Julia Tousaw is an Associate Lawyer with Beamish Law.

Julia has acted in matters before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Landlord and Tenant Board, the Health Professions Appeals and Review Board, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee.

Prior to joining Beamish Law, Julia worked for a human rights organization where she collaborated with Ontario Indigenous Friendship Centres, Elders, and an Advisory Council to develop and launch free Indigenous human rights legal clinics located directly within Friendship Centres. Before that, she worked at a boutique litigation firm in Toronto where she advised and represented Indigenous people, organizations, and nations in a broad civil litigation practice.

Julia is published in the University of Toronto’s Indigenous Law Journal.

Julia graduated from the Charter Class of the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. She finished second in her class.

Julia grew up in Goderich, Ontario. She has played the fiddle for over 25 years, and is happiest when making music with friends.
